The motto of the Tillman’s Corner Area Chamber of Commerce “In Step With Progress” tells just part of the story of the Chamber and its industrious members. The strength of its members, directors and dedicated officers is a vital force that represents the interests of the community and its citizens, while ensuring the promotion of economic development of South Mobile County. This rich tradition reflects a Chamber that works together to instill and encourage a strong economic foundation for South Mobile County.
The Tillman’s Corner area is undergoing enormous growth and over the past two decades has experienced a tremendous increase in population as well as industry. This increase has caused unprecedented changes in the geographical face of the entire region.
Our economy is on the rise! The many changing life styles within our community reflects the image of a modern metropolis marching forward to the resounding beat of progress led by the Citizens of Tillman’s Corner with utmost pride, ambition, and optimism.
Like the community it serves and represents, the Tillman’s Corner Area Chamber of Commerce is …”In Step With Progress”.

Accomplishments
• Provided the leadership to initiate plans for the highway lighting at the west end of Tillman’s Corner—worth $1.2 million dollars.
• Prompted action by the State to clear the interstate islands of underbrush, and instrumental in acquiring the State and the County to clear the ditches and the right-of-ways along the service roads. At a minimum cost of $50,000, these two actions alone provided better visibility and the security of our local motels and restaurants.
• Spearheaded years of negotiations and planning with the City of Mobile to acquire a Community Center for the Tillman’s Corner and surrounding areas. The building has an estimated value of $650,000.
• Strongly encourages members to support local businesses of other Chamber members.
• Sponsors networking forums for local businesses and Chamber members.
• Facilitated the location of a Sheriff’s satellite office in the Tillman’s Corner/Theodore area.
• Worked with the Mobile Police and Sheriff’s departments to remove vagrants who were harassing local businesses.
• Hosts network lunches to share business concerns and information with elected officials, businesses and citizens.
• Sponsors Small Business Seminars to promote business endeavors in the Tillman’s Corner area.
• Co-sponsors the annual Alabama Pecan Festival held at the Tillman’s Corner Community Center.
• Instrumental in establishing a Boys and Girls Club for the Tillman’s Corner/Theodore areas and assists with raising funds to continue programs with the Club.
• Influential in acquiring grants for the Tillman’s Corner Community Center, which enables the Center to purchase equipment and supplies.
• Annually the Chamber places American flags in the medians within Tillman’s Corner in honor of our veterans for Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and the Forth of July.
• Arrange and coordinate political forums in Tillman’s Corner to encourage a better-informed constituency.
• Organizes annual family-oriented events to include Christmas parades, Easter egg hunts, Citizens of the Year banquet and senior citizens activities with the support of area businesses.
